Mary is a former Dayton Public Schools teacher who was loved by her students and respected by her peers. As aging is inevitable, now in her 80’s, Mary required assistance if she wanted to remain living in her home. Senior Resource Connection was the answer to her needs with a case manager that helped her get valuable home-based services. A Visiting Health Care aide was placed in the home to assist with daily living needs such as bathing, dressing and light housekeeping. An Emergency Response System was also provided for added protection where she could call for help with the touch of a button.
Everything was going great until, after being in Mary’s home over several months, the care workers noticed that her daughter was exploiting Mary financially. Unfortunately, even teachers, with all their education, can fall prey to this. Mary agreed she needed financial assistance but wanted her daughter to remain in the home. Senior Resource Connection became Mary’s payee. Once her bills were organized and paid, services could be managed and reestablished.
